Polish SM40 shunting locomotive model. The SM40 locomotives were produced in 1955 in Hungary, by the MÁVAG/Ganz factory, identical to the M44. Locomotives with a 440kW engine and electric transmission were primarily intended for shunting service, but were also used for transporting lighter freight or passenger trains. A later modified version under the designation SM41 was used by Polish railways in the number of over 260 units.
