The electric locomotive of the EU05  series was developed in Škoda Plzeň as a structural continuation of the el. with the locomotive designation E499.1 In the years 1961-63, 30 units were produced for the Polish Railways PKP (designated EU05) and 87 units for the USSR under the designation Čs3. Due to the speed of 120 km/h, the locomotives were mainly intended for passenger and express transport, later reconstructed and designated EP05. In operation approximately until 2010.
